Earlier, the celebration of the day got a formal start with the chief guest, Nabam Rebia, Parliamentary Secretary for Industries, unfurling the flag which preceded an impressive band display by the students of VKV, Nirjuli amidst a drizzle.
Addressing the people, the chief guest said that Donyi-
He appealed people to stick to ‘religious tolerance’, respect others’ religions, upholding the secular fabric of the country. He, however, said one should not overlook his or her constitutional right but to protect one’s own religion, saying “invasion of culture” and “invasion of religion” are not good for this democratic country. He said that IFCSAP’s movement will only be a success when the people of state upkeep their own indigenous faiths and culture.
The other speakers—Vanavashi Kalyan Ashram organizing secretary Atul Jog, Higher & Technical Education Director Dr Joram Begi & Joint Director Dr Tejum Padu, IFCSAP president Nabam Atum and general secretary Augung Bengia—made a clarion call to their fellow believers of indigenous faiths to uphold the ‘pristine glory’ inherited from their ancestors. The IFCSAP general secretary said that every faith and culture has the right to exist and nobody should disturb them to change it through force or allurement. As the day (Dec 31) was declared state holiday by the state govt to facilitate the people to celebrate the Indigenous Faith Day in large scale, the function witnessed a massive turnout but in middle of it, the weather god turned a matter of concern for organizers for a few moment.

Education Minister Bosiram Siram and MP Ninniong Ering were present in the hometown and took part in the celebration in all the Ganggings and extended heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the people of the district. They also prayed for peace and prosperity. Both of them expressed confidence that the celebration would help in promoting communal harmony and feeling of brotherhood among the people.

The procession culminated at the Ngopok Gangging Ground, where ceremonial flag was hoisted and special prayers were offered in the Gangging led by the Chief Guest Onyok Pertin DIPRO.
In his brief speech Pertin appealed to preserve the rich tradition for the younger generation and also to protect own identity and culture.
The Chief Guest also inaugurated an Adult Education Center locally launched mission by SHG (Self Help Group) of Ngopok village and also released CD Cassettes containing religious activities.
Among others, the Guest of Honour Oming Pertin, President Ngopok Gangging Maliyang Perme and Secretary Nabom Damin also spoke and gave their valuable suggestions on the day. H K Roy reports.

Tawang itself is snowed under tourists from all over India who are on spree off for their winter holidays.
We came here to experience snowfall and here we are lucky enough to arrive today, said delighted tourists from Assam.

Grievances Cell in CM’s secretariat
ITANAGAR, Dec 31: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s secretariat will now have a Grievances Cell. While approving establishing of the Public grievances cell, the Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu appointed his OSD K Riram to be the nodal officer designated as Public Grievances Officer.
A suggestion box is being placed in the chief minister’s office which shall be opened on regular basis by the Public Grievances Officer. The grievances which require the attention of the chief minister or the principal secretary to CM as the case may be shall be placed before them for appropriate action. This will facilitate easy communication of the public with the chief minister.
Similar arrangements are being done in the district headquarters where the Deputy Commissioners shall be the public grievances officers. Complaint or suggestion box shall be placed in a prominent place in the office of the Deputy Commissioner and the contents will be examined and periodical reports will be sent to the chief minister’s secretariat. NABARD eager to help TDF projects in Dibang Valley
ANINI, Dec 31: The Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme and programmes under Tribal Development Fund (TDF) should be launched in Dibang Valley district, opined A K Pasrija, DGM NABARD during his address in the seminar on “Financial Inclusion” held at Anini today.
Explaining the various schemes, namely, KCC, SHG Programme, Farmers Club Programme, which are available in NABARD and can be taken up for Financial Inclusion Programme in the district he advised the district administration to take the help of NGO from Lower Dibang Valley District to start the project under TDF from NABARD. Pointing out the Dr.C. Rangarajan Committee’s recommendations on Financial Inclusion, Pasrija said that the local Panchyats can also be involved in the programme. There was a common demand for setting up of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the district, he added. The Seminar was held in collaboration with NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office, Itanagar.
The Deputy Commissioner T. Jempen who presided over the seminar pointed out that there was no meeting of District Consultative Committee under Lead Bank Scheme since last two years.
The MD of LAMPS also participated in the deliberation apart from members of PRI.
Besides the line department officials, the Branch Managers from SBI and Apex Bank were also present.
The district officials were highly appreciative of the efforts taken by NABARD to promote various development schemes in Dibang Valley District and Deputy Commissioner promised to hold the follow up meeting sometime in April next year so that actions taken in the seminar are duly carried out.
DGM, NABARD will also have a discussions with LAMPS officials and other Board members of LAMPS as to how the LAMPS can be revitalized with the package given under Vaidyanathan Committee Recommendation.
5.5 magnitudes earthquake hits NE again
ITANAGAR, Dec 31: North East region being falls under category V of seismic zones has been rocked by a series of quakes in the last few months.
On September 21 an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale was felt in the region, on December 29 last an earth quake of 5.5 magnitudes jolted NE Regions.
Again, just after three days a moderate intensity earthquake rocked parts of North East region today at a dept of 7 km below the earth surface.
The Meteorological department sources informed that an earthquake of 5.5 magnitude jolted the region at 1527 hours with its epicentre in Bhutan and it was felt at Shillong, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
However, no damage of life and property has been reported yet.
Seppa: In order to maintain the transparency in the registration of the vehicles in the East Kameng district, the automation of the DTO office was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Pige Ligu at DTO office on Dec 30.
The softwares VAHAN and SARATHI meant for the registration of the vehicle and all the work related to it was installed with the help of DIO Krishan Murari.
Ligu informed that the installation of the softwares would put check on the corruption in the registration of the vehicles and also the issuing of the licenses. DIPRO
West Siang prepared to celebrate Siang River Festival
AALO, Dec 31: Siang River Festival (SRF) will be celebrated for the 4th consecutive time at Aalo, West Siang District from Jan. 11, 2010.
The venue of the celebration has been opted at the confluence of Sipu and Yomgo River from where one can have a glance of uninterrupted view of scenic beauty of the Yomgo valley.

Resolution adopted to make Seppa a beautiful township
SEPPA, Dec 31: The intellectuals and leaders of East Kameng have discussed elaborately the beautification plan of the Seppa Township and unanimously adopted resolution to make Seppa one of the most beautiful district headquarters in a coordination meeting held on Dec 29 last.

under the initiative of legislators of the district some Rs 4.5 crore (CRF-
Parliamentary secretary for environment and forest Kumar Waii said that Rs 4.5 crore
may not be enough for improvement of township road as the required fund is actually
Rs 8 crore. He stressed on more discussion on bringing more funds. He suggested that
extra effort should be taken to avoid duplication of works. He asked Gammon India
to a set time frame for start of removal of telephone/power/water-
MLA Tapuk Taku suggested PWD to survey all types of structures and their owners, if any, along the road from Hari Bridge to Seppa township and artery roads so that leaders could also cooperate in making affected people understand about the need of eviction in the interest of the people. Tapuk Taku further advised that eviction should not be carried out in haste, but in after examination by the DLAAB. He urged that township boundary should be immediately notified.
Sipi Bagang, Chairperson, ZP, stressed on advance planning for development of the town so that in future there is no need of eviction.
EE. PWD Seppa Tanya Soki informed that the department had proposed for Rs. 6 crore for which the concept paper has already been sent the higher authority of the department. He further informed that proposal for improvement of township road under CRF for Rs. 3 crore is on priority list.

He further informed that out of required 40 labourers, only 12 of them are here. The only truck available with us is in poor condition. We need to have a proper waste disposal mechanism which including selection of a disposal site. The current site for disposal of waste near Hari Bridge is objectionable. He demanded a new truck for disposal of wastes.
EE, Power, AC Don, informed that works under RGGVY have already started. He promised not to compromise with quality of works.
EE PHD, Seppa, Kirba Sora, regarding shifting of pipelines along the road to make way for widening purpose, he expressed requirement of fund. He promised to systematize supply lines to ensure minimization of leakages by next year gradually.

125 Foundation day of INC celebrated

ROING, Dec 31: Ms Sushanta Kumari Sahu, a junior teacher of the Government Higher Secondary School, Roing has been honoured with memento by All Idu Mishmi Students’ Union in recognition of her dedicated service in an impressive farewell ceremony here yesterday.
She has been serving in this part of the region ever since she was first posted in November 1980. Completing her 30 years of service in working for the tribal students, she retired this month.
